The key isn&#039;t so much what it is made of (though that is obviously a consideration) but the overall quality. These day&#039;s I wouldn&#039;t go cast aluminium only because there are so many good, light weight, affordable carbon fibre and the like varieties.</description>

Today I picked up a pair of secateurs identical in appearance to those on this page. I tried to cut something with the that was fairly hard. 
And they snapped off at the base of the handle!
Am I going to be doing the best thing by avoiding garden hand tools (anything at all?) made of cast aluminium?
I have always been wary of it.</description>
